This little watch would have been perfect except for some challenging technical issues. I'm not an IT expert, but I am reasonably handy with home and hobby networking and other electronic devices. Short summary is that when it did work, it was just what we were looking for. Our 10 year old daughter could range the neighborhood and check in with us as her plans and activities changed. Phone calls worked well, and the sound quality was acceptable for a device in this price range. The text functions on this device allow parents to send very short messages to the watch via the App interface, and the watch can respond via a voice file and/or a picture (watch cannot reply via written text). The video communication is also via the app, and also works well enough when it works, which is much less than 100% of the time. The four main negatives for this device were: 1. Setup was challenging. I spent a couple of hours with T-Mobile tech support to get the device on network with voice and data. This device is not part of T-mobile's product line, but they were helpful enough getting it added to their network, and it took quite a bit of time to navigate to the correct tech support person, and then experiment with different settings on the device and on T-mobile's setup. Eventually the device was in the T-Mobile network and indicating a strong signal and 4G data. 2. For some reason, the cell phone feature on the watch does not work very often at my house despite the 4 Bar 4G signal indications on the watch itself. I tried it with WiFi on and off, VOLTE on and off, and the two different APNs available for the T-mobile network and all permutations of the above combinations. Away from my house the cell calls to/from the watch seem to mostly work , but at the house it was about 99% unusable for cell calls. The video chat feature was intermittent at the house (more reliable than the cell calls, but not very reliable), and also intermittent away from the house. 3. The battery life was fine for our use. It would last for several hours as my daughter was out and about in the neighborhood, calling us every once in a while. But the charger connection to the device is a design weakness. It was not uncommon to put the charger on the watch, confirm that the screen indicated it was taking a charge, only to come back in the morning and have the phone at 1% or a completely drained battery. I spent quite a bit of time trying to align the charger points to the device and make sure it would stay connected for more than a few minutes and was never able to get a satisfactorily consistent connection. 4. Last issue was with customer support. Looking through the questions and reviews, it was common to see the seller/manufacturer ask customers to reach out for support via Amazon "Contact the Seller" support. I spent some time with Amazon technical support and eventually got them to provide the e-mail address for the seller of this device. I crafted a detailed e-mail message, including device parameters frequently requested by the seller on the question/review areas of their Amazon product page, and also sent pictures of the device status bar, etc. It took a few days to get a response which provided no support or answers and asked me to contact them via WhatsApp instead. It was at that point that I decided to stop wasting time and return the device and look for an alternative. It's too bad, because this device checks all our boxes on paper. Unfortunately it came up short in execution and support, and I'm not willing to sacrifice any more time in the hope that it will start working consistently. I'm writing this lengthy review to assist potential customers, and to provide feedback to the seller for future improvements. The watch came in good timing. I was so happy to be getting my son this watch, it has all the great features (I thought). So upon opening the box there were the tiniest instructions with no real help. I WEN TO THE T-MOBILE, AT&T, AND BEST BUY trying to get a sim card to activate the phone. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE PLACES SAID THEY CANT. I called almost EVERY PHONE COMPANY I KNOW which includes speedtalk, mint mobile, another open sim which is unlocked and NONE OF THEM WORKED. So then my best bet was to call around and have them check the imei from the back of the watch. OH MY GOODNESS figured out why the watch works with no cell phone company.... SURPPRISE IT IS NOT 4G. This watch is 3g/2g which arises the next problem. NOBODY IN CALIFORNIA OR MOST OF THE USA DO NOT SUPPORT 3G/2G. So I emailed the company who pretty much copied and pasted what they said about getting the AT&T and T-MOBILE CARDS, after I clearly stated it is not working is there another way. So, I ended up sending another email telling them not one phone service is working and I do not need you to repeat what you already put in the description, I need other options. THEIR RESPONSE WORD FOR WORD: THANKS FOR YOUR MESSAGE. AT&T OR T-MOBILE CARD CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT, THIS IS A NEW PRODUCT, IT CAN BE USED AS A SMART PHONE. IF YOUR CURRENT PHONE CARD IS T-MOBILE, YOU CAN DIRECTLY USE YOUR PHONE SIM. WTF!!!!!! you are selling a watch telling us to use phone companies who have no idea who we are??!?!?! DO NOT AND I REPPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH!!!! THEY TELL US TO GET A SIM CARD FROM COMPANIES WHO HAVE NO IDEA THIS 3G/2G PHONE IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED FOR THEIR WATCH! ALSO,THIS IS A WATCH FOR CHILDREN WHY THE HELL WOULD I TAKE ME SIM OUT TO GIVE TO MY SONS SMARTWATCH? ????? This company needs to be reported for false information, as I was in there going off on these phone companies. I never do this, but this pissed me off right before Christmas. I found a new watch its tick talk 3, little more pricey but it comes with its own either t-mobile or at&t sim card, all you have to do is activate it!!!!The watch is fine. Cute. No instructions on how to use the actual watch but after messing around with it, its not hard to figure out. Brings all tools needed for watch. Has an extra band. Battery life is okay. Definitely need a sim card to use. Gps tracker is off a bit. Gps tracker can update every 10 mins, every hour or manually under sleep mode. Everything must be done thru app. Only real problem I have is theres ALOT of ads on the app. You have to have app open to track device or use the call feature. Video and sound quality is good. Havent tested the water resistant. Still trying to figure out the actual app since there no "help guide".I bought 2 watches for my daughter's, they loved them , were able to talk to each other and to call friends. Two of my biggest concerns:1 - The quickest GPS update will be 10 minutes. How far could a child be taken in 10 minutes before you are updated on which direction he/she was taken?!2 - I just bought this for my son for Christmas, it shut off and now won't turn on - but according to the app.... it's charged almost to a full battery. I found someone else in these reviews with the same issue. The information was to send the IMEA# to an email address for customer service... sent the email, it came back as invalid. So now, I have a heartbroken little boy and I have no more peace of mind of his safety than before. My son is careful with electronics.... this lasted 3 weeks.....I bought 2 for both of my kids. The watches are good, but not worth the price. It should be at least half the cost. Took a bit of a learning curve to get the SIM card activated with Speedtalk Mobile and the SeTracker. The calls work fine, but the issue I have is the GPS system. There is a major lag in the network that is supposed to be 4G. That is the most important feature. Also, one of the watches didn't have all the apps like other one did.Muy frágil, no vale lo qie cuesta!!!
